Marina Satti – Bio

Graduated in classical piano and advanced music theory, a diploma holder in classical singing and acting, and scholarship recipient of the internationally recognized Berklee College of Music, where she studied orchestration, production and jazz music she had the opportunity to work with Danilo Perez and Jamie Haddad, among others, Marina Satti has developed a unique sound that combines the different musical traditions she grew up with, such as Greek, Arabic and Balkan.

Having represented Greece in the European Jazz Orchestra (EBU) with works by Peter Herbolzheimer, she performed at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. with World Jazz Nonet and participated in the a cappella vocal group “The Singing Tribe” in collaboration with Bobby McFerrin. From the Concert Hall and the Greek National Opera to festivals in the highlands of the Greek island of Crete, Marina Satti can be at the same time pop, ethnic and mainstream, as she can, effortlessly, be lyrical, urban and traditional.

The European media present her as an ambassador of the Greek and Balkan scene, following a unique path, blending traditional music with pop, classical and contemporary genres. In 2017 she topped the charts with the single «Mantissa», while shortly afterwards the audience embraced warmly «Ponos Krifos», which premiered on the German channel “COLORS” getting the first place again, as a Greek artist on the platform NOWNESS, which first featured her exceptional video clip for the traditional song «Yiati Pouli M'». In 2017, she also founded CHÓRES [ˈkɔɾɛs], an all-female choral ensemble consisting of more than 150 women aged between 15 and 60, while managing its artistic direction. CHÓRES is an artistic incubator which aims at rescuing, processing, and promoting the wealth of Greek cultural heritage but also at creating original musical repertoire and performances in collaboration with contemporary artists while reviving, in a unique way, the folk songs of the past with the sound and the aesthetics of today.

In May 2022, she released her debut album YENNA, while in 2023 she produced the mini documentary “Flabouro” and, in the meantime, she recorded and released “Tucutum”: a Greek song referring to the Balkan trap, which went viral on social media.
