alkaios_esc2010_greek_final_400The Greek viewers and the jury selected the song "OPA" performed by Giorgos Alkeos & Friends to represent Greece at the 55th Eurovision Song Contests to be held in Oslo, Norway. Hosted by TV icons Rika Vagiani and Tzeni Balatsinou, the Greek national final presented the seven candidate songs to the Greek viewers and the jury on Friday evening. Cyprus' ESC entrant Jon Lilygreen & The Islanders, Katerina Avgoustakis and Bulgarian ESC entrant Miro had been invited to sing for the Greek audience. The selection process was broadcast live on eurovision.ert.gr and NET television.

alkaiosGeorge Alkaios-Basiliou was born in Athens on December, 24, 1971 and his zodiac sign is Capricorn. His father is Greek and his mother Portuguese. After his birth the Greek-Portuguese baby flies to Boston, US where he lived till the age of 3. Young man Alkaios could be described as a restive spirit as his only interested was music. However his first contact with music and the theater occurred in a summer camp in Barybobi where was group leader and participated in all music and theatrical events.
